Record Store Eurotrip Vol III: Ljubljana

SpinVinyl

Gallusovo nabrežje 13, 1000 Ljubljana, Slovenia

I visited only one record store during my stay in Ljubljana, largely because – and please forgive this brief transformation into a travel blog – this city captured my heart so thoroughly and immediately that I ended up with precious little time to cram my backpack with albums. SpinVinyl is located in the touristy-but-charming heart of old town Ljubljana tucked between a bookstore and one of dozens of little cafes along the Ljubljanica river. Its tiny but has an amazing vibe, every time I walked by it was packed with people flipping through the crates lining the walls, and sitting on the floor chatting over the music on the turntable. I confess I didn’t thoroughly inspect the contents of said crates, but from the wall displays I would expect a solid rock selection (with an especially good amount of classic alt rock) and a sprinkling each of punk, metal, and Slovenian music. I recommend dropping by this spot on a warm evening after dinner and a leisurely coffee at one of the restaurants by the water. Eat outside for the best views of the iconic Pink Church through the soft green veil of the numerous willow trees.
